PRELIMINARY MORSE CODE INVESTIGATION

These are some preliminary, investigations of morse code on the page, to start working visually and develop it through doing rather than thinking. 

I have opted for a 4 column 8 row grid, which gives me 32 fields to work with.  This should give me enough freedom to work around but also enough restriction. I may as the project develops add more constraints or rules to use through the series of publications.

SOS

This design works on the publication creating SOS out of the code, probably the most known morse code. The problem with this is that to get the full SOS code with one symbol on each poster, requires 9 posters. This forces the publication to become more pages than i was initialy planning. I need to either find ways of condensing the SOS symbol down into less sheets or drop the idea completely.

Rotating Rhythm

The posters will provide a rotating shape through the publication. This plays with the idea of rhythm through a publication, almost forming a rotating rhythm.

They will also not interfere with the content area of the publication.

The posters join together to form what seems to be typographic shapes but this was not intended. They almost become a form of typographic Toy, to see what letters can be formed from the shapes. This concept could transcend through the entire series of publications.

The publication will be made out of paper within A2, it will be a set of posters that form the publication also. The posters will join together to make a large scale display object.

The image part of the poster will flip from one side to the other in the middle.
