The patterned bordered box is cluttering up the front page and making it look cheesy, I think the version on the left works better, with the text box being the the negative of the pattern. I think this further supports the contemporary concept.
The shape of the negative space makes a coat of arms, this supports the classical element of the concept.
I think the shield works better, it allows for more white space around the faber and faber logo. I have also added the barcode, the brief states that the book covers will be sold in bookshops.
