umool umool

about umool umool

"‘umool umool’ is a graphic experimental magazine since 2004 in Seoul. Up until now, seven different issues have been produced with fourteen international designers participating. In addition, two special issues were realized in different form.

‘umool umool’ can be a book or a magazine, self-initiated work of designers, based on forms and images. ‘umool umool’ is not periodically published, that is to say, the concept and structure of this magazine is unrestricted and flexible. ‘umool umool’ wants to gather designers’ works which can be forgotten inside the drawers and provides them another close look into their previous sketches and unrealized ideas. ‘umool umool’ can be a creative platform to express the originality of designers. Alongside the magazine, the published work in ‘umool umool’ will be presented in exhibition form after a certain point."

This magazine Umool Umool, is a self initiated designer book for designers. It has no client, it is in itself a product, a brand. It is a publication. This could be a possibility. The magazine takes contibutions from international designers. This could be a possibility, I could contact designers that may be willing to contribute to a publication. It has no specific theme other than being experimental. It collects work that designers create that has no specific "real" world context and compiles them into a publication thereby giving them context, it is simply "design for designs sake".

If this were to be a possibility, then i would need to set up a website for the publication, and contact publishers to find out about production, booksellers to sell the book and designers to contribute.

ACTION PLAN
-COMPILE LIST OF BOOKSELLERS WILLING WHO MIGHT BE WILLING TO SELL BOOK

-COMPILE LIST OF DESIGNERS WHO WOULD BE WILLING TO CONTRIBUTE

-BOOK PRINTING
