New college beat

"The New College Beat is a small circulation, self-published work of minority interest made by
Ryan Waller.

The newest The New College Beat was produced with the amazing contributions of some of my friends and favorite creatives:

Noah Butkus
Sean Carmody
Steven Harrington
Garrett Morin
Jenny Mörtsell
Nathan Nedorostek
Jason Nocito
Harsh Patel
Todd St. John
Miika Saksi
Jesper Ulvelius"

The paperstock used for this magazine works well, and the cheap printing methods and print effects make this publication. The magazine uses a mix of two colour, four colour and one colour printing. This gives the publication rhythm through contrasting tones and colours. This also gives the publication a tactile quality. The paperstock being light makes the publication a light and carryable format, and allows for a multitude of pages. The use of light paperstock and mix of spot colour and full colour will cut down the production costs but adds in so many ways to the quality of the publication.

Supplement

This gives me a possible idea for the fine art year book. There could be a mini supplement for the students of the fine art course. This would give the students something to give out at the end of year show. This would be a simple 4 or 6 page publication or fold out poster/leaflet and would be in single colour and possibly printed at college. This would allow for the students to print out as many as they wanted and fold themselves. They would use content from the end of year book and would all be the same apart from the content.

A photoshoot for the yearbook could be a possibility. This would create and unity of the course and uniformity of design, would give rhythm and title images. There would have to be an element or theme carrying through the entire photoshoot. This would come from the given concept.
